Remix, birthday styles!

Last year I catered the joint birthday party of my brother's girlfriend and her friend, idea: throw a party in our lounge with a food fee! With a variety of platters to snack on, dinner was just a simple tossed green salad with reduced balsamic, New York striploin with a creamy mushroom sauce, sundried tomato & caramelized onion roasted chicken thighs, butter poached veggie bundles and spring onion creamy smashed potatoes. Dessert was berry skewers and birthday cake, sadly missed my chance to snap as many shots of the lay out as I wanted but I wasn't fast enough. Thanks to the help of my Deli family for equipment and for a steal of a deal everyone left stuffed and happy!

Black Cod, also known as .....

Sablefish! As deliciously buttery as the fish is in nature I added a little more flava flav by crusting and searing it with sesame seeds. Served with steamed bok choy and shiitake scallion fried rice, it was an easy match made in Asian heaven.

Craving too many things at once?

Sometimes I get this craving where I can't quite put my finger on what exactly it is that I want. Here's one of many ways to satiate your tastebuds: assorted dippings! I seared some albacore tuna quickly and allowed it to chill before slicing. Accompanied with a citrus guacamole, ponzu chili ginger & a cucumber papaya salsa there's minimal chance you didn't hit the spot with at least one of the three sauces! With some fresh foccacia from the oven for nibbling and a little (or a lot) of vino for sipping, it makes for a perfect night with or without company!

MMM ... Got beef?

It's been a long day and sadly too late for dinner, so instead I shall be dreaming of mouth watering delicious steaks instead of actually eating them. An older picture from a previous dinner I had, seared to perfection and coated with butter, garlic and fresh herbs ... The aroma is as amazing as the taste! YUM! Good night world!

Southern Hospitality

Way back when, I had a real hankering for some good old fashioned fried chicken! But being that I had been training for the BMO half-marathon I wanted to see if there was a way to make healthier versions of some traditional comfort foods. Unfortunately I only remembered to capture proof that it's possible after the ladies started digging in, needless to say it was a great success! Healthy and delicious is possible! Funny enough, I did not get a picture of the chicken ...

What's for dinner?

Phyllo wrapped herb, lemon & garlic baked snapper with parsley roasted potatoes & an asparagus bundle. Great value entree filled with so much flavour! Quick & easy too!

Cake cake cake ...

Let's play catch up! from strawberry shortcake ... gluten free chocolate cake ... skor trifle ... croque en bouche to the most popular cheesecake. Here are some shots of the various cakes I've done over the years, too many kinds to post so feel free to contact me for any ordering/flavouring inquiries (baking questions welcome!) It's always a little more special when made with love and done from scratch.
